Jen sent me this picture and noticed my legs in the corner and commented how great they looked, lol! I only post this because I can't believe how far I've come in regards to running! See this post, my very first race http://bestrongcalmgrateful.blogspot.com/2007/10/i-did-it.html.
This picture was from the LAWs 5k, my first race back in the 'circuit' since my sprained ankle. During my recovery I was contemplating not running anymore....hanging up my running shoes. But I thought what the heck, let's try it one more time...ankle feels good...I was keeping up with exercise while recovering through spinning class so my endurance was up. So I did it...and you know what?
I ran my fastest 5k yet...ran under a 10 min/mile AND I was #7 out of #26 in my age group...which completely and totally blew my mind (me..I did that??).....yes I know 7 is not first, second or even third, but heck for me it might as well have been! Only one other woman my age came in before me and she was #6. What is even more encouraging the fastest woman of the entire race was 44 years old at a 6 min/mile pace...now that's encouraging and tells me that heck I have many more years of running ahead of me.
So the running shoes are back on and it feels good!
