Our next addition to our family

No...it's not another baby, but pretty close and probably just as much 'work'.

Dan and I have been talking for awhile about getting a dog for Olivia and our family. We know we wanted to get a dog eventually and well, now seems like a good time for us. We both love the golden retriever breed so we started researching breeders in the area. So this morning, we drove down to visit the Gap View Ranch Golden Retriever Breeder. Jen and Lex took the road trip with us. The ranch was very beautiful and clean...it looked like a very reputable breeder with all the appropriate health certifications for the dogs. We had a few liters to choose from and we ended up choosing Olivia and Spencer's litter who were born on Christmas Eve, December 24th. We will go back mid-January to choose the girl puppy we want, then we come back two weeks later to bring her home. Can't wait...Olivia is over the moon excited.

This is Spencer, the father. He was very laid back and was on the smaller side of the males.

This is Olivia, the mother. She was also very laid back and we loved the sad little look on her face. Even with her puppies crawling all over her, she let Olivia and Lex (and all of us) hug all over her and her puppies. They were only 6 days old, so we couldn't pick them up...just pet them. We chose her as a mother because her temperament just seemed to be so lovable and calm.

And these are the puppies. There are 5 girls and 2 boys. Aren't they the cutest little things in the whole world? Although we are fully aware they don't stay this little for long and bringing a puppy into our house will be a big change and a lot of work...but I think in the end, it will be all worth it. Dan and I both grew up with dogs and it's only right that Olivia does too.
