The Mitten

Olivia was in her very first play this weekend. She has been taking a class called, First Act, at Franklin Arts Center. It was a 10 week program where the kids learned about theater and acting.

At the start of the session, the children brought in their favorite books and they all voted on which one to act out for the parents at the end of the program. So on Saturday, as the parents sat in the theater, the children performed The Mitten. The teacher narrated the book, while each child wore a mask that they made representing the animal they were acting. Olivia was the Owl, which is ironic given my love of Owls! She did a great job and although none of them had speaking parts, they all acted out their part perfectly. Afterwards they had a little cast party. Olivia loved it and was very proud of herself for not being 'shy' in front of all those people!
